The contest is being held via the Notes application on Facebook and entrants must become a Just Roughin’ It Facebook fan in order to participate.
The contest runs from July 16 through August 16, 2009. Entrants are invited to use words, a photo, or video to tell a story about their most compelling and memorable outdoor adventure. Contestants can enter up to three unique pieces into the contest; each entry must be of a different format to be eligible. Entries will be judged on quality, originality, and “wish we had been there” factor.
The winner will receive a choice of a backpack valued at approximately $250, or a free hiking or backpacking trip with Just Roughin’ It worth up to $550, which can be applied to a trip of greater value if desired.
Backpacking trips feature all equipment and gear, gourmet food, and free transportation from Phoenix or Flagstaff. What a great contest! Are the results on their Facebook page? I’ve wanted to do a Grand Canyon hike. I bet going with a group like Just Roughin It would be a lot of fun, plus they probably know what they’re doing compared to someone like myself who’s never been to the Grand Canyon.
