6Sight Conference to Reveal Report on Insights into the New Digital Photo Enthusiast
JACKSON, Mich. – PMA – The Worldwide Community of Imaging Associations and Future Image Inc., San Mateo, Calif., announced the upcoming release of a new research report, “Rise of the Amateur,” at the 6Sight Future of Imaging Conference, Nov. 11-12, in Monterey, Calif.
The 6Sight attendees will be the first to hear the findings of this groundbreaking survey, conducted by PMA and Future Image in partnership with DP Review, one of the largest photo sites in the world. The report is a comprehensive overview of the enthusiast photographer market, generated from more than 15,000 responses from DP Review members. PMA estimates the photo enthusiast market has doubled in the past decade, driven by high-quality, relatively low-cost digital technology.
“At the 6Sight conference, we have focused for several years on the convergence of factors making ‘pictures as personal expression’ one of the best growth opportunities in imaging today,” says Alexis Gerard, research director of the report and Future Image president. “Our recent research demonstrates explosive growth in the segment, and reveals the experience of the digital photo enthusiast today is much richer and multifaceted than is generally believed: It involves not only SLRs, but also multiple cameras, large-screen televisions, photo book production, and intense online community involvement.”
Report topics also include photographic shooting behavior, numbers and types of cameras used, image archive size, time and money spent on digital photography, and usage and evaluation of online services and communities.
Gerard and Gary Pageau, PMA publisher, will present an overview of the study at 9:20 a.m., Nov. 12, at the 6Sight conference, during the “Understanding the Amateur” session.
Until Dec. 1, 6Sight attendees will be able to purchase this report for $199; the regular price will be $495.
