New York, N.Y. – October 25, 2010 – American Photo and Sony® will present a special one-night celebration featuring the Sony Artisans of Imagery during the annual PhotoPlus Expo in New York City. The event will take place on Thursday, Oct. 28 during PhotoPlus Expo, the annual industry trade show at the Javits Center Oct. 28-30. Select images from Sony’s Artisans of Imagery program will be on display during the event.
Based on synergies between their unique styles of photography and the Sony line of α (alpha) cameras, Sony hand-selected six professional photographers to be included in its professional photographer program, Artisans of Imagery. These Pro photographers include Andy Katz, Me Ra Koh, David McLain, Christina Mittermeier, Brian Smith and Matthew Jordan Smith. By presenting these photographers in educational workshops, books and special events, the Artisans of Imagery program is influencing the next generation of photographers both professional and consumer.
American Photo will celebrate the announcement of its 2010 Editor’s Choice Awards. Sony, who received recognition from the magazine for their NEX-5 camera, NEX-VG10 camcorder and SLT-A55 camera, will receive awards at the event. Americas Photo’s 2010 Editor’s Choice Awards are featured in the November/December issue of the magazine, on newsstands now.
The awards announcements will continue with American Photo’s sister publication Popular Photography. Sony’s α55 camera will receive a 2010 POP Award (Photography’s Outstanding Products) from the magazine, which will be announced in the December 2010 issue.
